Magnum Photo Assignment

I researched her work and saw she had a series of "Brotherly Love" where she took pictures of Philadelphia life of people and the conditions the city has that they have to live with. I love Philadelphia because the city is only two hours away from where I live and my family likes visiting there and watching the Phillies baseball team. Maybe I'm biased of why I chose her since she did take so many photos in Philadelphia and I love that city, but I can say that I still like her work nonetheless.                One of her works that caught my eye was the above photograph of a young woman in front of a car in a neighborhood. Portrait Inspiration

 Philippe Halsman By: Amanda Schaeffer                I chose Philippe Halsman as my inspiration for my portrait assignment. When going over the portrait presentation, I specifically liked this portrait of Bobby Fischer that Halsman captured. I like how he visually placed the chess piece in front of his eye so we really focus on the other one. A lot of photographers capture this unique perspective of covering an eye of the person they are capturing. Which really intrigues me since I want to do more senior portraits for my career. So, I thought I would do this project on this specific technique that Philippe Halsman did on Bobby Fischer.               Becca and I went to Brandon Park to capture our portraits for this assignment.
