Marco Grob
By viewing Marco Grob's photos, you can see his style on how he takes portraits of celebrities. Grob's work is about detail and key characteristics of people. When I view his gallery, I can see the finest detail of people's wrinkles on their face, their facial hair, and the fabric of their clothes. The amount of detail and focus Grob gets by taking photos is astonishing. He can also get the details of a person's emotions. In some of his work, celebrities are crying, yelling, or remaining serious. Those key details of a person's face really gave me an awe factor from his work. Besides the tremendous focus of detail that Grob captures about a person's face, he also seizes to take pictures of characteristics or sentimental things of what that person is wearing or holding. In some photos, people are holding birds, umbrellas, instruments, or a piece of jewelry that they were wearing. Grob really focuses on detail and uses celebrities' items to really draw more attention to the portrait.
In the above photograph, I picked this portrait in particular because I love Priyanka Chopra and how Marco Grob really captured her beauty. Grob captures her beautiful dark wavy hair and her key features on her face. The eyes sparkle from the lighting used for the photograph and how her skin looks smooth. Her lips are pouting and with a sharp jawbone that makes her look very serious and important. I love the look of this portrait and I think Grob really captured Priyanka well. However, the only thing I would change is placing her right elbow out from under her hair. In the bottom right hand corner, you can see her elbow sticking out from her side. I didn't notice it at first but once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. It's not distracting to the image itself, but it would make the image look perfect if we only saw her hair from behind her. Overall, this image is one of my favorite from Grob because it really captures the beauty of Priyanka Chopra and how important and serious she seems in the portrait.
Studio portraits are important for celebrities so they can have the best photo for their portfolio. However, with portraits needs to come with good lighting. I believe Marco Grob used studio lighting to capture Priyanka Chopra. You can see the lighting in her eyes and her face, shoulder, and some of her hair are hit with the light. Also, the right side of the picture looks more lit up than the left. In my opinion, I think Marco Grob used a studio light with a reflector to the right since there is a shadow on her left side on her neck. The placement of a reflector on the right cast a beautiful shadow around her neck which ultimately means that there was a reflector of some sort. This portrait is well done and Marco Grob captured Priyanka Chopra beautifully.
